I was considering the MindStar Package as well, however I have dropped the plans for a few reasons. Same unit, bigger screen, and slightly better interface because of it. If you are buying *specifically* for the 172, I'd recommend you got the 530 instead. I highly recommend it (in fact I'm considering about dropping the $100 for the Unlimited Pack, even though it is a rip-off price).

The 530W works in its entirety.īecause the RXP software uses the Garmin Trainer software directly, nothing will come close to this unit. Only glitch I found specifically relating to the 430W is the VNAV mode doesn't appear to function (the page is there but doesn't compute), but given that the RXP software is a front-end into the Garmin Trainer software, and the Garmin Trainer software uses the actual firmware from the actual unit, I can only suppose this bug affected the real unit (but with this being training software, it was not updated/fixed). I bought the GNS430 on the strength of the 530. I bought the GNS530 years ago after first experiencing it in the Flight1 Piper Meridian (special build for that product). With that aside, I'm on a new build computer, and as yet not a single error message from the RXP software, and it works fine.
Garmin 430 trainer windows 8 serial#
In fact in FSX I have never had a problem - it was FS2004 where I had issues regarding RXP BUS (but this did not appear to stop it working - the software used a virtual serial port which I presume was used by the Unlimited Pack for simulating Crossfill function - it was the serial driver that failed). For me at least, it either worked (maybe with an error message at FS load) or it didn't work at all. I have never had the system fail to work however. Let me start by saying: I know there are problems, and I have even experienced them myself. In honesty, Reality has a couple of features that Mindstar does not yet have (and may never have) but it is supported, it works almost seamlessly, (especially if you follow it here on the forum) and is about half the price. Read here on the forum and read very carefully what MindStar has and then evaluate your decision to go with Reality XP. I would suggest that you also look at the MindStar Industries GNS430/GNS530 package for about $50 USD. I have abandoned the Reality XP product line to a shelf in the back of the hangar. But, that alone was not enough to keep me as a customer. On his rxpGNS530, I love the 'roads' display, especially for VFR flight. If you are willing to live with the issues that Reality XP has, then the product is good, not great (because of the posted problems with no resolution). You can still buy them, thinking that all is well. However, he has not gone far enough away as to end the sales of his product, or from collecting monies from unsuspecting customers. The developer (Jean Luc) has gone AWOLand cannot be reached for comment, help, suggestions for problems, etc. For one, there is absolutely NO TECHNICAL SUPPORT from Reality XP itself. If you will do a search here on the forum, you will find several threads of dismay and disgust with the Reality XP management. Now the HAMMER ! There are issues with the Reality XP product line that you need to make yourself aware of. I cannot specifically say that it will run on Win 8 64 bit, but cannot see any reason why it would not.

I've read on the realityxp FAQ page that even though the garmin trainer is a 32 bit program, it will still run on a 64 bit version of.
